Christian Minto announced via Instagram that he will be joining the UNI Panthers for this next upcoming season.
Minto was one of the most dominant wrestlers in the country in the Juco ranks going 29-0 last season and having a career record of 51-1. Minto wrestled at 165 pounds last season and became NIACC’s (Northern Iowa Area Community College) fourth ever 2x national champion.
He has dominated the past two seasons winning 13-6 in the 2021 national finals and 14-5 by major decision in the 2022 national finals. With the only loss of his career coming in the finals of the 2020 national tournament.
Northern Iowa has been a solid team these past few years placing 20th at the national tournament and bringing Minto in they will be looking to improve upon that finish.
Nothing about what weight class he will be going has been said yet but the Panthers will be returning 2x national qualifier Austin Yant at 165 and 2x All American #2 ranked Parker Keckeisen at 184 pounds so you could possibly see some weight changes coming here.
