North Carolina will be taking on Central Michigan at the Collegiate Duals at 4pm EST on December 19th. UNC comes into this dual meet as a pretty big favorite and should have no problem grabbing a win here.
Projected Matches:
125- Jack Wagner vs Sean Spidle
A toss up match at 125 to start things off here and this one should be big for Central Michigan if they can grab one early. Wagner is the favorite to win this one here however and with the next few all being in favor of UNC this one could be pivotal.
133- Joey Melendez vs Vince Perez
Melendez should have no trouble grabbing the win for UNC here and should be looking to grab bonus points. Should not really make too much of a difference with bonus when it comes to the team score.
141- Lachlan McNeil vs Ja’Kerion Merritt
Lachlan McNeil might be a little bit lower in the rankings compared to where I would have him at the moment but he should be moving up slowly as time goes on. He should not have any trouble winning here and is a guy that should look to grab bonus as well.
149- Zach Sherman vs Johnny Lovett
This match is interesting with both of these guys looking about the same. I would call this one a toss up here and maybe have Lovett as a slight favorite should I have to pick a winner. This match is definitely a must win for CMU if they want any chance.
157- Austin O’Connor vs Corbyn Munson
O’Connor has not looked the greatest when it comes to bonus points and Munson grabbed a massive win over Ed Scott earlier this season. I will go O’Connor by decision in this one here.
165- Joey Mazzara vs Tracy Hubbard
One of the few matches where CMU is favored to win and they need to take advantage of that here. Hubbard matches up well against Mazzara and should be able to grab a win here for the Chippewas.
174- Clay Lautt vs Alex Cramer
Lautt coming off a massive upset loss vs Appalachian State, and he will look to rebound here with a win being that the next guy he faces will be 2x National Champion Carter Starocci. Lautt should be able to win this one here and get back on track.
184- Gavin Kane vs Ben Cushman
Kane is one of the higher ranked guys on this UNC lineup and is a big favorite coming into this match against Cushman. He should be able to get the major here and possibly shoot for more.
197- Max Shaw vs Cameron Woods
One of the weaker spots in the CMU lineup and Shaw should be able to take advantage of it here possibly shooting for a major. A decision victory is most likely what it will end up as though.
285- Brandon Whitman vs Bryan Caves
Whitman again here is the favorite for UNC, this match should not be any sort of a blowout. Looking at their records both of these guys have not had the best start to the season so one of them should be able to pick up a win here.
