Lehigh vs Cal Poly Wrestling Collegiate Duals Preview

spot_img

Lehigh will be taking on Cal Poly at 4pm EST on December 19th at the Collegiate Duals. Lehigh is ranked #21 and Cal Poly at #28 at the moment. It does however look like Lehigh matches up a lot better stylistically and this should be a pretty dominant win for them.

Projected Matches-

125- Carter Bailey vs Antonio Lorenzo

Baily of Lehigh comes in as a favorite here but this seems like one of the matches that are a must win for Cal Poly should they want to somehow win this dual meet.

133- Connor McGonagle vs Ethan Rotundo

McGonagle should be able to grab a win here with no problem and might be able to shoot for a major extending Lehigh’s lead in the dual meet but a decision seems fair here.

141- Malyke Hines vs Lawrence Saenz

Should be another win here for Lehigh putting them out to a double digit lead early should things go according to plan. There are some big matches coming up soon.

149- Manzona Bryant vs Dom Demas

This is the first match in the dual where a Cal Poly wrestler is favored and Dom Demas as we all know has the potential to put up big points on the board. Bryant is very good and should be able to keep it somewhat competitive so Demas by decision here maybe a major but it’s a longshot.

157- Josh Humphreys vs Luka Wick

Humphreys is a massive favorite here and should have no trouble getting the win but Luka Wick is solid and will be able to hold his ground. Most likely another decision victory for Lehigh here.

165- Brian Meyer vs Legend Lamer

This is one of the loss up matches in the dual and it again is a must win if Cal Poly wants to have any chance of sneaking out a win here. I will go Legend Lamer by decision in this one but it will be close.

174- Jake Logan vs Kendall LaRosa

Logan has had some very good matches in his career so he will be the favorite here but this bout is not un-winnable for Cal Poly. It all just really depends but Logan would have to go down as a heavy favorite to win here.

184- Tate Samuelson vs Brawley Lamer

Samuelson should be able to get the win here with little to no problem as he looks to prove himself as a contender for All American this season.

197- Michael Beard vs Bernie Truax

Beard is coming off of what most would call the biggest win of his career taking out reigning National Champion and former teammate Max Dean. He has looked good this year with his only loss coming to Nino Bonnacorsi of Pitt, but that being said hopefully the win over Dean showed him that he can win this and we see fireworks.

Bernie is very good in his own right but has yet to attain the criteria at this weight class leaving people in a weird position. Beating Michael Beard would be what he needs to claim a top 4 ranking in this weight class.

285- Nathan Taylor vs Trevor Tinker

Taylor has been looking good this season, coming off a rough loss to number 1 Greg Kerkvliet this tournament looks like a good place to get back on track. Taylor by decision seems like the right call here.
