2x NCAA All American for Wyoming Stephen Buchanan has entered the transfer portal. This was announced today (November 29th).
Looking at all of the wrestlers that are in the transfer portal at this point in time Buchanan is by far the biggest name currently ranked #3 in the country.
The biggest question is not where he will transfer but if he will even wrestle this year as he has not competed in a match and he still has a redshirt available. With wins over some of the best guys in the field like Rocky Elam and Yonger Bastida it may just be beneficial for him to use his red shirt and have two more years of eligibility left to look for a national title.
Looking at his career Buchanan has a 68-22 career record, he has qualified for the national tournament 3 times with 2 of them resulting in an All American finish. He finished 8th in 2021 in the free year, and he took 3rd last season in his sophomore campaign.
No matter where he ends up there is no doubt that Buchanan will be a massive asset to whatever team can get a hold of him.
