The St Joes Regional Green Knights come into the 2022-23 season ranked number 3 in the state in our preseason team rankings.

They are lead by 2x State Champion Jimmy Mullen at 285 pounds as well as state placers Mikey Dellagatta, Aiden Schlett, and Frank DiBella.

Looking for up to 4 potential state champs based on last season and Burton looking for a big year at 165 the Green Knights have a solid chance to claim the number one ranking in New Jersey by the end of the season.

106- Jonathan McGinty (Freshman)

One of the four freshman on the St Joes lineup. Comes into the season number 7 in our rankings and will look to get on the podium in his first year.

113- Vincent Paino (Sophomore)

After falling in the blood round last season down at 106 pounds he will look to climb his way onto the podium in his sophomore campaign

120- Mikey Bautista (Freshman)

Another one of the freshman on the lineup. Maybe one of the filler spots on the lineups as a freshman theoretically having to move up a bit in weight but he is solid and will be looking to do big things this season after winning the Mobbin Classic last year.

126- Jimmy Sloan (Sophomore)

After going 1-2 at the state tournament last season down at 113 he will most likely be at 126 or possibly 120 and will look to make improvements on that finish.

132- Donny Almeyda (Sophomore)

Brother of Alex Almeyda who is now wrestling at Penn and was a 4x state place winner for St Joes. Donny went 1-2 at the state tournament forfeiting out of the consolations. He will look to get onto the podium in his sophomore season and a possible breakout year.

138- Mateo Sgambellone (Senior)

On of the few seniors on the lineup. Falling in the blood round this past season he will look to finally get on the podium in his senior season.

144- Alex Naddeo (Senior)

Qualified for the region tournament last season and coming into his senior season he will be looking to make moves and grab his bid to Atlantic City.

150- AJ Giovanni (Freshman)

The last of the freshman on the lineup. The middle school state champion looks to do big things in his first high school season.

157- Frank DiBella (Junior)

Coming off of a 4th place finish this past season DiBella is a guy that can 100% look to grab a title this season.

165- Ryan Burton (Sophomore)

After falling in the blood round this past season he has had a big offseason placing at Fargo. He is not on our top 8 with 165 being stacked with all the weight changes. He is a guy that will most likely see the podium this season after transferring from DePaul.

175- Rocco Dellagatta (Sophomore)

The younger of the Dellegatta brothers, looking for his first podium finish this season after falling in the blood round last year down at 157 pounds.

190- Mikey Dellagatta (Senior)

One of the main components on the team Mikey Dellagatta comes in ranked number 2 at 190 pounds. He will be looking to grab a state title this season in what should be a very good weight class with multiple returning state finalists.

215- Aiden Schlett (Junior)

Coming off of a 7th place finish in a strong 215 pound bracket last year Schlett will look to climb his way up to the top half of the podium this year. The weight is looking solid so this should be a fun weight to watch.

285- Jimmy Mullen (Senior)

If you are from Jersey you know who Jimmy Mullen is, the top ranked pound for pound wrestler in the state looks to put an exclamation point on his career with a 3rd state title. Could have been 4 if he wrestled back in 2021 but his levels of dominance are what this team will need to have success against the other top programs.

One of the only top recruits in the country that haven’t committed it should be interesting to see where he ends up.

Overall Thoughts-

Ranked number 3 in the state at this point a lot of where they will end up will be determined by younger guys and how they can perform.
