As the #1 public school in the state Southern will look for revenge this year after losing in the Group 5 semi finals to Phillipsburg, and the way this team looks they have a very good chance at getting that revenge.
They return 13 starters back, 3 state medalists and 3 state qualifiers. Southern has 4 state ranked wrestlers in Collins, Henrich, Velardi and O’Boyle, with this amount of talent Southern are expected to run through Group 5 and win a state title.
A dual to look forward to would be if Southern (#4) and Christian Brothers Academy (#5) go head to head.

The 2x state place winner is looking to finally be on top of the podium after years of heartbreak, Collins is currently ranked at 126 behind Luke Stanich. Stanich bested him last year in the semi finals of the state tournament 1-0.

Henrich is coming off a great season where we saw him take 7th at 138 pounds, he is currently ranked 4th at 144 pounds and will look to turn some heads this year.

Coming off a 5th place finish Velardi will be making the move up to 157 pounds where he is currently ranked 4th and will be looking to climb up to the top of the podium this upcoming season.
