USA Wrestling has announced that after the retirement of G’Angelo Hancock that Braxton Amos will be the one taking his place at the world championships this year in Serbia.
Amos has been solid thus far in his international career but has not had a shot on the senior level just yet to having Hancock directly ahead of him. He was the #1 pound for pound recruit coming out of high school and will be going into his sophomore season with the Wisconsin Badgers next season.
He doubled in styles at the junior world championships last year and was able to medal in both bringing home gold in freestyle and bronze in greco. As far as the senior level goes he has made the finals domestically to represent Team USA twice the first being at the Olympic trials and the second being at the world team trials this past year at Final X.
The senior world championships this year will take place in Belgrade, Serbia and they start on September 10th ending on September 18th.
