News coming out via USA Wrestling that world team member and world bronze medalist this past year G’Angelo Hancock has announced his retirement. They stated that he informed USA Wrestling about this on Monday.
Looking at his career he is a 3x medalist at the Pan American championships and even winning gold in 2020 which would be the only international gold medal of his career. He took silver at the 2019 Pan American games.
The best of his career came in Oslo just this past year where he was able to end the medal drought for Team USA taking bronze in the Greco-Roman category at 97kg. Maybe that medal was good enough for Hancock to move on with his career being only 25 years old but who knows what he has planned for the future.
This might be complete speculation but going around a lot on social media people are saying that he has plans to join the WWE which would realistically make sense with Gable Steveson heading in and big wrestling names in the past making their run with the WWE.
However it has been a solid career for Hancock. Braxton Amos has been announced as the one who will take the 97kg spot for the world championships in Serbia this year after placing second at Final X.
