Nick Grizales has recently announced his commitment to Appalachian State University. Grizales announced his commitment via Instagram stating, “I am excited to announce that I will be continuing my academic & athletic career at Appalachian State University. I could not have done it without the help & support of my family as well as my coaches Duane”. Along with this statement he had also announced he will be wrestling at the 149 pound weight class for App State University.
During his high school career Grizales placed first at the 2022 CHSAA state tournament. His previous year he had also placed at the 2021 CHSAA state tournament with him placing second. During his 2019-20 season Grizales placed fourth at the CHSAA state tournament. According to track wrestling, Grizales has a season record of 64 wins and only 7 loses, he also had 56 pins and one tech.
When asked why did he choose to commit to App state, Grizales answered, “Well I am deciding on App because it is where I felt the most at home and were I fit in”. The question was followed with, what is he looking forward to in colligative wrestling at which he replied, “I am looking forward to wrestling D1 and being in a great environment to grow and be the best wrestler I can be”.
It looks like the Colorado springs native will now be making his way to North Carolina.
