Ethan Richner a freshman at South Dakota University will be transferring to Gannon University. Richner announced his transfer via Instagram stating, “Excited to announce I’ll be transferring to Gannon University. Thankful for my time at South Dakota State. Excited to get back to work!”.
Richner was a four-year starter and three-time state qualifier between the 160 and 172 pound weight classes at Bellefonte High School. He placed sixth in Class AAAA as a sophomore and seventh in his senior year. He compiled a 123-22 career record, including a 25-3 mark his senior year. He was three-time district and region individual champion. He then committed to South Dakota University at which he wrestled at the 165 pound weight class and is now transferring to Gannon University.
When asked what the reason for his transfer, Richner responded, “I wanted to be closer to home and felt like I didn’t really fit in with the people I was surrounded by”. According to Richner he is just trying to be closer to home.
