Aiden McCafferty has recently announced his commitment to North Carolina State. The news came from McCafferty’s Instagram with him writing, “I have decided that I will be furthering my athletic and academic career at NC State”.
McCafferty placed first at the NCHSAA state championship in the 170 pound weight class. Along with this during his 2021 season he placed second at the NCHSAA state championship. McCafferty is 54-0 during his 2021-22 season.
During and interview McCafferty was asked several questions along the lines of, What was the deciding factor and what are you looking forward to? and what do u think will be the most challenging thing in college wrestling? McCafferty replied, “The deciding factor was how serious the NC state program is about ensuring the success of their wrestlers on and off the mat. I’m looking forward to the opportunities it’s gonna open in my life. The most challenging thing is definitely gonna be being a small fish in a big pond again in a d1 room of wrestlers that are equal and above my skill level at the moment.”
As McCafferty prepares to wrestle at the next level, he will be wrestling at a much faster pace with a higher level of competition and more vigorous workouts.
