Everyone knows Cohlton Schultz as the greco phenom. There were a couple doubts on how he would perform this season in a weight class of increasingly athletic big men with his “unathletic style”.
Schultz had a great season this year placing second at the national tournament to only Gable Steveson falling 6-2 in the finals. Schultz capped off a couple solid wins taking out Mason Parris, and Jordan Wood at the national tournament.
With the return of Adam Coon looking like it just won’t happen at this point Schultz will be the overwhelming favorite to make his second team at 130kg and will be on the hunt for his first medal.
Last year at the world championships Schultz had a rough first round draw pulling Olympic Silver Medalist Iakobi Kajaia but to somewhat of a surprise he was able to keep it close 5-3. More than anything showing that Schultz is there to compete and he can very well get to that point of being a consistent medalist or even a champion when Riza and Lopez clear out.
The news of Ivan Ivanov being named general manager of greco roman programs for USA Wrestling the landscape for USA greco wrestling seems to be on the uprise.
