Braxton Strick Commits To SIUE

Braxton Strick has announced he will be continuing his wrestling career at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

Strick announced his commitment to SIUE via Instagram stating, “I am super excited to announce i will be furthering my athletic and academic career at SIUE!”. Along with expressing his excitement he also took the time to thank all of the people who were part of his journey. He took the opportunity to personally thank SIUE stating, “. I would also like to give a big thank you to SIUE for giving me this great opportunity, I’m ready to make the most of it”.

The Missouri native has had an accomplishing high school career with him having a 74-4 record. He was given the All-American honors in his first trip to the USMC 16U and Junior Nationals Tournament in 2021. That same year he placed second at the 2021 MSHSAA State championships. Although strict had only participated in three tournaments before going to the state championships he placed first in all three tournaments. Strick was considered an underdog at the state tournament, but he managed to place 1st at the 2022 MSHSAA State championships at the 152 pound weight class. According to sources Strick won the match by performing a counter-move he had never performed.

Strick will now be making the move from Missouri all the way to Edwardsville Illinois. The future SIUE wrestler will now be competing at a higher level and will now face better competition. He still has a long road ahead of him.
