Day two of the 2023 U23 World Championships is in the book and it was a great showing for Team USA picking up 4 medals on the day.
Finals / Medal Recap:
Julian Chlebove lost his repechage match today to Mezhlumyan of Armenia 11-0 and finishes in 7th at the U23 world championships
Keegan O’Toole had his hardest test today against Ganishov (AIN) and he had no problem getting the 6-1 win in the finals to win gold.
Aaron Brooks dominated with ease in his finals match against Shirai of Japan getting the 10-0 tech in the first period.
Jacob Cardenas won his first repechage match against Miura of Japan 6-0 to advance to the bronze medal match. He would face Patil of India and was trailing late in the bout, Cardenas was able to score a late takedown to win the match 4-3 and claim a bronze medal.
Wyatt Hendrickson had a dominant showing in the finals against Turkey’s Adil Misirci getting the 13-3 technical superiority victory and winning gold at the U23 world championships.
Session 1/2:
Cooper Flynn, Brock Hardy, and Doug Zapf are all alive on the repechage side of the bracket with Zapf already sitting in the bronze medal match since he made it to the semifinals.
Dustin Plott was eliminated after losing his first match of the tournament 2-2 and his opponent losing his bout the following round.
Issac Trumble has booked his ticket into the world finals tomorrow where he will face Radu Lefter of Moldova for gold.
