Meyer Shapiro Wins Gold At The U20 World Wrestling Championships

Team USA has picked up our first gold medal of the 2023 U20 world championships and it comes from none other than Meyer Shapiro.

Shapiro was dominant throughout his run outscoring his opponents 47-10 in his 5 bouts. In Shapiro’s gold medal match, he would go down 4-0 early to Ali Rezaei of Iran and would storm back to win the match 11-6.

In addition to Shapiro Team USA has come away with 4 more medals which include silver from Luke Lilledahl and Jesse Mendez as well as bronze from Camden McDanel and Matthew Singleton.

57kg- Yuto Nishiuchi (Japan)

65kg- Mohammad Shakeri (Iran)

70kg- Meyer Shapiro (USA)

79kg- Ibragim Kadiev (AIN)

97kg- Abolfazl Babaloo (Iran)
