Big news coming out as 3x National Champion Spencer Lee has registered for the US Open later this month.
There has been a lot of talk about whether or not this would happen due to him not finishing the season. On the Barstool Wrestling podcast Spencer said that this would be something that they would need to wait and see about whether or not he would be healthy enough to compete.
Lee has registered at 57kg. Should he win the Open which he will most likely be projected to, then he would face former Hawkeye Wrestling Club teammate and 2021 world champion Thomas Gilman at Final X for the 2023 world team spot.
In this 57kg weight class so far there are many tough wrestlers including Nick Suriano, Patrick Glory who won the national title at 125 pounds this year, as well as Zane Richards who had a very good showing at the world cup back in December.
