Riza Kayaalp

PC: Tony Rotundo

Riza Kayaalp is a multiple time Greco-Roman world champion wrestler for Turkey. Kayaalp has won the world championships 5 times (1/18/23).

Most notably Kayaalp has been the only man who has been able to stand up to the 4x Olympic gold medalist Mijain Lopez-Nunez in his prime.

Kayaalp defeated Lopez in the 2011, and the 2015 world finals. However Lopez would be the man to defeat Kayaalp at the 2012, 2016, and the 2020 Olympic games.

He made his debut on the senior level at the 2008 Beijing Olympics where he would fall to a 19th place finish. In the next three Olympic cycles Kayaalp would take bronze, silver, and bronze again in that order.

Kayaalp most recently just won his 5th world championship gold medal in 2022 at Begrade, Serbia.
