Kaori Icho

Kaori Icho is a retired Japanese women’s freestyle wrestler. She is a 14x world and Olympic champion, and is widely considered the greatest female wrestler of all time.

Icho won four consecutive Olympic gold medals in the 58kg and 63kg weight class in 2004, 2008, 2012, and 2016. She also won 10 world championship gold medals to go along with this.

Kaori’s sister Chiharu Icho was a very dominant wrestler for Japan as well winning 3 world titles along with 2 Olympic silver medals.

She was inducted into the FILA hall of fame in 2020 and is number 2 all time for world and Olympic gold medals won.
