Amir Zare And Geno Petriashvili Go Down At World Championships

The 125kg semifinal matches seemed to be like a procession bout for Geno where he had Munkhtur of Mongolia. On the other side Taha Akgul pulled Amir Zare who he had lost to 4-0 in the world semifinals the year before.

Lkhagvagerel Munkhtur was the biggest story of the semifinals knocking off the 3x World Champion Petriashvili 4-2. It seemed that everything that Geno did just would not work as Munktur wrestled a near perfect match.

On the other side of the bracket although 4-0 does not seem to bad as a score line Zare handled the match against the Rio Olympic Champion last year. This year it was a different story. Zare got to a lead early and a late takedown by Akgul and a failed challenge was the difference and Akgul will be looking for his 4th gold medal and 3rd world title tomorrow.
