Macaluso And Elor Into Junior World Semis

Solid session for Team USA junior worlds advancing two wrestlers into the semifinals with the rest of the group awaiting repechage.

Sofia Macaluso at 57kg has looked phenomenal so far winning both of her matches by fall and even pinning the returning silver medalist Aurora Russo of Italy in the first period.

She will face Melda Dernekci of Turkey next in the semifinals and should she win that she will either see Japan or Kazakhstan in the gold medal bout.

Amit Elor is the only other wrestler to advance to the semfinals today and she has done it in dominant fashion pretty much effortlessly. Pinning Sghaier of Tunisia in the qualification round while up 9 in just 1:35 and getting a 10-0 technical superiority win in the quarters over Virag of Hungary in just 1:45 Elor has looked amazing.

She will face Reetika of India in the semifinals and should she win will be seeing Japan or Kazakhstan in the gold medal match.

Katie Gomez will need Kazakhstan to win in the semifinals to be granted a chance at repechage and if she is will need to win a match to make the bronze medal bout.

Adaugo Nwachukwu will be awaiting the result of India vs Kyrgyzstan in the semifinals as she fell to India. She will need India to advance to the finals to be granted a chance in repechage.

Reese Larramendy will be awaiting results from Japan vs Tunisia in the semifinals and needs Japan to win. She teched in her first match and got teched in the next bout by Yoshitake. Larramendy should have the best chance out of the three to get pulled back into repechage.
