Alex Nini Looks To Capture Team State Title With CBA

Alex Nini will be entering his junior season pretty soon and will be part of a stacked team at the Christian Brothers Academy. With teammates Zander Silver and Julian George being ranked number one in their weight classes respectively and having a few other ranked wrestlers you could say that they will have a very good chance at capturing that team state title.

Nini is recently coming off of a 5th place finish at the cadet world championships a few weeks back at this point competing for Team Italy.

When asked about the outlook for the CBA team this year he firmly believes that they could crown four state champions this season with himself, Julian George, Zander Silver, and Tyler Barrett.

Nini is currently ranked number two at 132 pounds, Barrett number two at 150 pounds, George number one at 144 pounds, and Silva number one at 157 pounds. They also have Robert Canterino who comes in ranked fifth at at 215 pounds.

We asked him which team he is looking forward to wrestling most this season and the answer was whoever they see in the state finals. He wants to knock off Bergen Catholic of Delbarton this season (the top two teams in the state)

“We couldn’t get the job done vs Bergen Catholic last year in the finals but I think I could speak for the whole team when I say we want to win the team state tournament and go home with rings this year”

Talking about his personal goals for this upcoming season he just wants to dominate every kid that he wrestles to show the state of New Jersey how good he is.

Asked him who he is looking forward to wrestling individually this season he said “Anyone and Everyone”

Nini and the Christian Brothers Academy will have big season ahead of them with two number one guys, 2 number two guys and a bunch of others that could see themselves on that podium in Boardwalk Hall. They have some big things coming for them this season.
