Lincoln high school student, Preston Spray has announced his commitment to the University of Missouri. Spray wrote, “I couldn’t be more excited to announce my commitment to the University of Missouri to continue my academic and athletic career. This wouldn’t have been possible without the support of my family, coaches, and teammates along the way. The only way is up”.
Preston is originally from Wisconsin and is currently attending Lincoln high school. Preston capped his high school career with at 55-2 record in his 2021-22 season. During his high school career, Preston placed 3rd at the Cheesehead invitationals where he lost to Gylon Sims in the semifinals, and then proceeded to win a D1 113lb state title in Wisconsin.
When asked for the deciding factor in his commitment to the University of Missouri and what he was looking forward to in his colligative career, Spray replied, “The deciding factor was probably how well their wrestling style matched with my style. I train at AWA and there’s a lot of guys on the Mizzou team currently that have also trained at AWA, and those guys are finding a lot of success in wrestling and I felt that Mizzou would be the best fit for me. I’m really looking forward to improving in all aspects of my life, not just wrestling. I really liked the campus, the facilities the guys on the team, and the coaches when I took my visit, and it was obvious that those guys shared the same values I have, so I felt Mizzou would be the best place for me to develop the most as a person”.
Preston Spray will now be making the move from Wisconsin to the University of Missouri.
