Emma Matera Commits To Sacred Heart

Emma Matera has committed to Sacred Heart University. The New Jersey native will be making the move to ​​Fairfield, Connecticut. 

Matera announced her commitment via Instagram stating, “I am proud to announce I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at Sacred Heart University.” Along with announcing her commitment she also took the time to thank her family, friends, and coaches. The post ended with, “Excited for the next chapter!”. 

Matera is an accomplished wrestler at the 135 pound weight class. During her 2021 career Matera placed first at the NUWAY summer national folkstyle tournament, within that same year, she placed second at the NUWAY summer national freestyle tournament. She placed first at the NJSIAA girls state championship tournament in both her 2020 and 2021 season. During her sophomore year she was also the third individual state champion in Delran High school along with being the first female state champion. 

The New Jersey native is now officially a Sacred heart wrestler. She had a great high school wrestling career. It is time to move to the big leagues and basically start all over again, the competition will increase and so will the skill levels.
