Big news as former North Carolina wrestler Joe Heilmann has announced his transfer to Rutgers. He is originally from New Jersey where he competed for South Plainfield high school. He posted a 59-37 record for the the Tar Heels in his time there.

he announced this via Instagram this morning that he had graduated from the university of North Carolina and he ended the caption off saying “I will be a Tar Heel forever wherever i go in life. Stay tuned.”

he then posted this just recently on Instagram announcing that he will be coming back home to Jersey to finish out his career as a Scarlet Knight.

In his time at South Plainfield he compiled a 164-11 record and a 44-1 record in his senior season with the only loss coming to National Finalist Pat Glory in the state finals.

Heilmann is projected to be the new 133 pound wrestler for Rutgers as that is a weight class that has been rough for them since all the things went down with Sammy Alvarez. The weight was most recently filled with true freshman Joey Olivieri who was a 3x State Champion in high school.

Heilmann is definitely a big pickup for the Scarlet Knights and he will definitely do some big things to finish out his career.
