Riley Godek, the Oregon native will be making the move to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania to wrestle for Bucknell University and become a Bison.
Godek announced his commitment to Bucknell University via instagram with the caption reading, “Being able to wrestle in college has been a dream of mine since I began five years ago”. Godek also expressed his uncertainty if he will continue wrestling after high school saying, “After my senior season, I wasn’t sure if it was coming to an end or not”. He then finished his caption with, “That’s why I’m so excited to announce that I will be wrestling at Bucknell University”.
During his high school career Godek was part of a team who had four consecutive 5A state titles. This held him to a higher standard and he had to fill some big shoes. Although he was held to higher standards Godek did not break under pressure as he qualified for state his junior and senior season and dominated the 285 pound weight class on both trips to state.
Godek’s most significant wins consists of him placing first at the OSAA 5A state championship in 2022 at the 285 pound weight class. Just the year prior he had also placed first at the 2021 OWA 5A state championship. Godek was also part of Raiders who had four consecutive 5A state titles.
Although Godek had a great high school wrestling career, College is at a different level of competition and the workouts are even more vigorous than the ones in high school.
