Lance Trost, the Michigan native will remain in Michigan as part of the University of Michigan wrestling team.
Trost has recently announced his commitment to the University of Michigan via instagram with the caption reading, “I’m excited to announce that I will be continuing my wrestling and academic career at the University of Michigan!!! I want to thank my family, friends, coaches, teammates and everybody who had helped me get to this point. Go Blue!”
Some of Trost’s accomplishments include placing third at the MHSAA Championships 2022 in the 189 weight class. Just the year before he had placed 6th place at the MHSAA tournament. He is a three time state qualifier in 2019, 2021, and 2022.
Although he had been competing since the age of 4, Trost decided to take a break from wrestling and decided to focus on football his sophomore year. Leading into his junior year, he was ranked third in the team and had 63 tackles in just nine games. Despite all of his success he decided to come back to wrestling in November. His coach believed he would be rusty, but on the contrary it was like he never left. His junior year he qualified for state and placed 6th. By his senior season he was ready to continue wrestling and taking it to the next level by committing to the University of Michigan.
Lance Trost has been working for this moment since he was 4 and it all has fallen into place. Wrestling at the next level is not easy, but only time will tell.
