Braden Stauffenberg, an Illinois native will be making the move to Michigan State University as he has recently committed to the wrestling program.
Stauffenberg announced his commitment via instagram stating, “The time has come where I have reached a final decision on where I will continue my growth and development. I will be signing my letter of intent to Michigan State University. Alongside announcing his commitment to Michigan State he thanked the people in his life that supported him throughout his wrestling journey, he thanked his parents and brother along with his sister and he stated, “To me, family is everything!”. He dedicated a statement to his coach reading, “To my coach Israel Martinez: To most, when they read the back of our t-shirts, “Wrestling is Life” it’s just words. To someone that has spent half of my life with you traveling all over the world, you have taught me how to train & prepare, how to fight, and how to win. Without you, I do not think I could have dug deeper within myself to achieve all that I have.” Furthermore, Stauffenberg mentioned his coach was so much more than just a coach saying, “Izzy, you are so much more than just a coach on the mat, and I thank you for that.” After thanking his coaches he thanked all of his teammates throughout the years. Stauffenberg ended his announcement with, “I am so very excited to begin this next chapter of my life as a Michigan State Spartan.”
Stauffenberg is a Pan American U-15 Championships gold medalist in both Freestyle and Greco-Roman. He represented the US at the 2021 Cadet World Championships in Greco-Roman 71 kg. He became a 2022 2A 152 pound State champion, and is currently a USA Greco World Team Member.
His commitment to MSU will only help him further out his wrestling career.
