Yesterday Russian national team coach Dzambolat Teedev put out a post that the three Olympic Champions that Russia had at the Tokyo Olympics will be out for the Ivan Yarygin Grand Prix.

He has said that the three wrestlers Abdulrashid Sadulaev, Zaurbek Sidakov, and Zavur Uguev were exempt from the Grand Prix. He also stated that they will be under consideration for the European Championships.

Stating that they will have to training teams and that this is where they will start to hold matches to decide who gets the start at future events. The plan to hold these matches between the champs at the Yarygin and the Olympic Champions sitting out at 57, 74, and 97.

This may have had a little impact on the USA’s team but nothing crazy. Thomas Gilman who currently holds the number 1 ranking (UWW) has been listed at 61kg instead of his usual 57kg. This may be because of Zavur Uguev not attending the tournament.

The Yarygin will take place from January 26th-30th in Krasnoyarsk, Russia
