2025 Wrestling World Team Trials Schedule and Preview

The 2025 USA Wrestling Senior World Team Trials Challenge Tournament is scheduled for May 16–17 at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center in Louisville, Kentucky. This pivotal event determines who will advance to Final X on June 14 in Newark, New Jersey, where the winners will earn spots on the U.S. Senior World Team for the 2025 World Championships in Zagreb, Croatia.

Event Schedule (All times Eastern)

Friday, May 16:

  • 10:00 AM – Preliminaries and Quarterfinals
  • 4:00 PM – Semifinals and Consolation Rounds

Saturday, May 17:

  • 10:00 AM – Consolation Matches
  • 12:00 PM – Finals and Third-Place Matches

The tournament will be streamed live on FloWrestling.

Men’s Freestyle Highlights

Eight weight classes will be contested, with winners advancing to Final X. Notably, the 57 kg and 61 kg divisions are already set for Final X and will not be part of this tournament.

Key Weight Classes to Watch:

  • 65 kg: A highly competitive bracket featuring athletes like Nick Lee, Seth Gross, Bo Bassett, Marcus Blaze, Jesse Mendez, and Real Woods. Nick Lee, the 2023 World Team member, is a slight favorite.
  • 70 kg: Led by James Green, a seven-time Senior World Team member and two-time medalist. Other contenders include Caleb Henson, Ridge Lovett, and PJ Duke.
  • 86 kg: Features four-time World champion and two-time Olympic bronze medalist Kyle Dake, who has moved up to this weight class. He’ll face competition from Chance Marsteller, Carter Starocci, Parker Keckeisen, and Marcus Coleman.

Women’s Freestyle Highlights

The women’s competition also features eight weight classes, with winners moving on to Final X. Two matchups are already set:

  • 57 kg: Amanda Martinez vs. Helen Maroulis
  • 65 kg: Aine Drury vs. Macey Kilty

Notable Weight Class:

  • 50 kg: Erin Golston is a favorite after a strong performance at the U.S. Open. High school senior Heather Crull, who won the U23 National Championships, is also a contender.
