Mason Parris has been named as USA Wrestling’s athlete of the week after securing bronze at the UWW ranking series in Budapest this past week.
Parris put together a phenomenal run in a field containing half of the olympics qualified athletes at 125kgs. This most notably included 3x world champion Geno Petriashvili of Georgia.
Parris’ Stats:
QF: 9-2 over Georgia’s Givi Matcharashvili (97kg Olympian)
SF: 10-0 over Puerto Rico’s Jonovan Smith
Finals: 34 second pin over Kazakhstan’s Yusup Batirmurzaev

Parris will next be competing at the Olympic Games in Paris and this performance just increased his stock to come in as the 3 seed.
If brackets hold in Parris he will finally get the rematch against Petriashvili from the 2023 world semifinals where Geno won 8-6. Parris is looking like a good contender to make the finals.
