Riza Kayaalp To Go For 12th Euro Gold

PC: Tony Rotundo

Riza Kayaalp has been a staple wrestlers on the Greco-Roman scene for well over a decade now. He has competed at 4 Olympic games earning 3 medals. He has 5 world championship golds to his name as well.

Currently the record for most European gold medals is held by none other than Aleksandr Karelin. He has 12 gold medals to his name from the European Championships winning from 1988 all the way to 2000.

Last year at the European Championships Kayaalp won with not much issue giving up only one point throughout the entire tournament. He would outscore his opponents 20-1 to win his 11th gold medal.

As far as his career goes Kayaalp has already solidified himself as a legend of the sport, there is only one thing that his resume is missing and that is an Olympic gold medal. He will get his next, and possibly last shot at winning Olympic gold next year in Paris.
