Former Bellator bantamweight champion Darrion Caldwell (15-6) will be back in action at Bellator 290 Tonight
Caldwell is set to square off against Nikita Mikhailov (8-2), and is hunting to snap his three-fight losing streak against the Russian.
Caldwell’s last win came back in Jan. 2020, submitting Adam Borics (18-2) by rear-naked choke in the first round. After his win over Borics, Caldwell was finished in the first round by A.J. McKee, lost a split-decision to Leandro Higo, and was then TKO’d by Enrique Barzola.
Despite the recent skid, Caldwell is a legend of the sport and is a pioneer of wrestlers succeeding in MMA. At age 35, Caldwell looks to rebound and get back on track to the title and has a great chance to do so over Mikhailov.
Mikhailov has been inactive since April 2022, and his last fight was a unanimous decision loss to Barzola. Caldwell will be Mikhailov’s fourth opponent since joining Bellator in 2021, and Mikahilov’s last win came over Blaine Shutt (8-6).
