Makharbek Khadartsev

Makharbek Khadartsev is was a 7x world and Olympic freestyle wrestling champion who competed for the Soviet Union as well as Russia and Uzbekistan.

Khadartsev is acclaimed as one of the greatest light heavyweight wrestlers of all time with the level of dominance and consistency he was able to display on the mat.

He won gold at the 1988 and the 1992 Olympic games but was stunned in the finals of the 1996 Olympics by Iran’s Rasoul Khadem.

He is a 5x gold medalist at the world championships while representing the Soviet Union. During his time representing Russia he won 2 silver medals and a bronze before retiring.

He represented Uzbekistan at the 2000 Olympics games in Sydney, he would be well out of his prime at 34 years of age. He would end up with a 14th place finish and this would be the end of his legendary career.
