Toghrul Asgarov is a freestyle wrestling Olympic champion for Azerbaijan. Asgarov won gold at the 2012 Olympics at 19 years of age which made him one of the youngest wrestling Olympic champs ever.
He is most known for his upset victory over Russian Besik Kudukhov in the London Olympic finals. Asgarov would make the Olympic finals in 2016 but fell short to Soslan Ramonov.
The Olympic gold would be the only of his career at a major event. He picked up a silver medal at the 2010 world championships as well as a gold medal at the 2012 European Championships.
