Sharif Sharifov is freestyle wrestling Olympic champion for Azerbaijan. He won gold at the 2012 London Olympic where he defeated Puerto Rico’s Jaime Espinal in the gold medal bout.
In addition to his 2012 Olympic gold medal, Sharifov won bronze at the 2016 Olympics game as well as a 5th place finish at the 2020 Olympic games in Tokyo.
He has a few medals at the world championships including his gold medal at Istanbul in 2011. Sharifov is also a European champion.
