App State pulled a massive win over the UNC Tarheels who were ranked 21st on the latest coaches poll. There were a few key matches that decided the dual meet but the main one is at 174 pounds where Mill Miller knocked off Clay Lautt.

Smith has been on the rise this season having some good wins and looking solid for App State overall. Getting the pin here was massive for the team score even though he was projected to win.

O’Connor not being able to get bonus points here may have been a bit of a detriment for the team score. After the match at 174 it may have proved to be true.
165- Will Formato (App) dec Joey Mazzara (UNC) 10-6
174- Will Miller (App) dec Clay Lautt (UNC) 7-5
This was the match that decided the dual, Miller pulling the massive upset on Lautt was too much for UNC to recover from needing a good amount of bonus points coming down to their last 3 matches.

197- Max Shaw (UNC) dec Carson Floyd (App) 6-2
285- Brandon Whitman (UNC) dec Mason Fiscella (App) 3-2
Final Score- App State over UNC 19-16
Massive win for App State here and it came down to two matches. The first being Caleb Smith being able to grab a pin down at 125 pounds and the next one of course being Will Miller being able to knock off Clay Lautt causing a 6-point swing which was too much for UNC to overcome.
