Dom Parrish just made her first world team this year when she defeated Felicity Taylor at Final X. She also just won the USA’s first gold medal of the 2022 World Championships.

Parrish dominated her first two matches winning them both by technical superiority. She defeated Denes of Hungary and Yepez Guzman of Ecuador in the first two rounds.

She won a close match in the semifinals over Maria Prevolaraki of Greece 3-1 advancing her into the world championships finals.

The finals was very close. It started off with Parrish jumping out to a 2-0 lead quick but then Khulan Batkhuyag would equalize it with a takedown of her own taking the lead on criteria 2-2. Late in the match Parrish would score on a counter taking the lead 4-2 and would not relinquish it.

Team USA had advanced three wrestlers into tomorrows gold medal matches with Helen Maroulis, Tamyra Mensah-Stock, and 18 year old phenom Amit Elor. It will be a massive day for USA wrestling as Olympic Champion David Taylor will take the mat for the first time as well.
