Big news just in as former Minnesota commit Cody Chittum has flipped his commitment and will be joining the Iowa Hawkeyes for the 2022-23 season.
Chittum is currently ranked #2 in the country at 152 pounds by Flo Wrestling (former #1 ranked at 145)
Most recently Chittum has had himself a great tournament at Fargo where he claimed the 152 pound crown with a technical superiority victory in the finals against Princeton commit Ty Whalen.
Iowa will be having many good and impactful transfers coming in these next couple of seasons with Gabe Arnold, Ben Keuter, Kolby Franklin, and Bradley Hill as well as a few others. With the addition of the Women’s team for the 2023-24 season and newly announced coached Clarissa Chun and Tonya Verbeek you can expect Iowa to keep a massive media presence these upcoming seasons.
What weight class he will be going all depends on where the Hawks need him. Chittum has made the decision to graduate high school early (via Flo Wrestling) so this makes things interesting. Chittum already having some wins on the college level makes it interesting. If they look to redshirt him then 157 seems like the move but if not he might be heading down to 149.
