Big news as 6x World Team member James Green announced his retirement today via instagram. Green is a 2x World Medalist and also a World Cup Champion in his career. This was somewhat unexpected by a lot of people being that he is only 29 years old.

“I have done everything I possibly could do as a competitor in wrestling regardless of the results, I gave it my all with no questions asked.” Green fell short of his goal to make an Olympic Team where Jordan Oliver was deemed the guy but failed to qualify the weight for the United States.

Green said that while he will be stepping away from sport as a competitor he will be starting his career as a coach. He has taken a job with USA Wrestling as a national freestyle developmental coach.

Looking back on James Green’s career he has done some big things for the sport. Never was able to make an Olympic Team but with 2 World Medals, a World Cup Gold, and a 4x All American with a 124-18 career for the Nebraska Huskers James Green has and will continue to cement his legacy.
