The NCAA Wrestling season has officially begun as the Wisconsin Badgers defeat the Buffalo Bulls 30-3 with some impressive performances as we see the return of 3x All American Trent Hillger, the debut of Braxton Amos, and Austin Gomez is back after announcing his retirement due to injury!

125- Eric Barnett decisions Tristan Dougherty 4-2

133- Derek Spann decisions Ethan Rotundo 8-4

141- Joe Zargo decisions Benfreeman 3-2

149- Austin Gomez decisions John Arceri 9-4

The long awaited comeback from former Iowa State wrestler Austin Gomez did not dissapoint! he dominates the match 9-4 and has his first win as a badger. Seemed a little too close for Gomez however he was injured and I can only assume he will progress from here.

157- Garrett Model decisions Michael Petite 15-11

165- Dean Hamiti major decisions Jay Nivison 18-5

174- Andrew McNally major decisions Giuseppe Hoose 10-2

184- Chris Weiler major decisions Peter Acciardi 10-2

197- Braxton Amos decisions Sam Mitchell 8-2

A lot of people say they were expecting a more dominant performance out of Braxton Amos being the most watched incoming freshman, however a win is a win and a great way to start off his college wrestling career. Can only assume he will progress miles past this time come Big Tens and the NCAA Tournament.

285- Trent Hillger decisions Toby Cahill 11-4

In a stacked Big Ten conference Hillger has fought through some insane matches to even make it to the NCAA tournament. When they wrestle out of conference opponents it shows you how good these guys really are. 3x All American Trent Hillger dominates and is just shy of getting the major decision victory. Great way to start of year number 4 for the badger.
