The Michigan Wolverines have to be one of the most hyped up programs coming into this season, with the massive transfers of Shane Griffith, Lucas Davison and more they are looking to fight for a national title this season.
125- Michael DeAugustino
DeAugustino is the first of three grad transfers from Northwestern. 2022 All American as well as a 4 time national qualifier. With the way 125 pounds looks right now we could see a lot of things shake up throughout the course of the season and definitely see him make a run high up onto the podium. Intermat has DeAugustino at #8 in their preseason rankings.
133- Chris Cannon
The second Northwestern transfer, the 2x All American and 3x National Qualifier Cannon will be a junior eligibility wise. With his 71-23 career record he is another very solid addition to the lineup and will be a great asset to the team in dual meets and for the post season as well. Cannon is currently ranked #13 by Intermat.
141- Dylan Ragusin
Ragusin is a very interesting case here, he started his career back in 2021 at 125 pounds, spent 2 years at 133 pounds and will be making the move up to 141 for his junior season. Very hard to predict how this will play out for him as well as the team but this will be a big hit or miss weight for the Wolverines. Intermat has Ragusin at #16.
149- Fidel Mayora
One of the weaker parts in an otherwise A tier Michigan lineup, Mayora had a 2-4 season last year and has an 11-7 career record. Don’t know what to expect here from Michigan.
157- Will Lewan
Lewan has been one of the most consistent wrestlers on this team, all though his matches may not be the most high scoring he does win consistently and has proven himself at this level with 2 All American finishes and making the National Tournament every year. He is currently ranked #7 by Intermat.
165- Cameron Amine
Possibly the strongest part in the Michigan lineup here, Amine will be coming into this season looking for his 4th consecutive All American finish and to solidify himself as a competitor for a national title. Has sustained some injuries in the past that have held him back a bit so if healthy it will be very interesting to see what he can do. Currently ranked #3 by Intermat.
174- Shane Griffith
By far the biggest pickup for the Wolverines this offseason was 2021 National Champion Shane Griffith, In addition to the national title he was a runner up to Keegan O’Toole in 2022, and a 5th place finisher this past season for Stanford. This will be his final year of college eligibility and wrestling fans around the country and waiting to see what Griffith can do, he is ranked #4 by Intermat.
184- Rylan Rogers
Rogers is ranked #21 right now by Intermat, I would expect that to improve through out the course of the season. Rogers had a 13-5 redshirt year with his losses only really coming to very good competition.
197- Brendin Yatooma
Another weaker weight class for the Wolverines this season, Yatooma compiled a 5-15 record last season. Looking for him to improve upon that.
285- Lucas Davison
The third Northwestern transfer, Davison will be looking for his third All American finish in his final year of eligibility. Intermat has him ranked #3 in the country and with last years national champion Mason Parris in the room with him maybe he can break through and potententially win a NCAA title.
