Oklahoma State vs Stanford is a top 15 ranked dual right now with Oklahoma State being number 4 and Stanford being number 13. With Stanford finally regaining control of their team and not having their program cut they will be looking to get back on track to another successful season with their team lead by National Champion Shane Griffith. Oklahoma State is consistently a top 10 team in the country and they have some new faces in their lineup they will be looking for a statement win right off the bat to start the 2021-2022 NCAA Wrestling season. They are lead by National Champion AJ Ferrari and 2x NCAA Finalist and 2x World Team Member Daton Fix.
125 Pounds-
Trevor Mastrogiovanni vs Jackson DiSario or Suhas Chundi. Stanford’s starter at 125 is unknown at he moment however Mastrogiovanni will be a big favorite in this match no matter who Stanford throws out there.
Projections- Travis Mastrogiovanni
133 Pounds-
Daton Fix vs Jason Miranda or Jackson DiSario. Another spot in the Stanford lineup where the starter is still tbd at the moment. However Daton Fix is one of the best in the world for a reason and he should not have a problem taking care of either one of the these guys by bonus points and get Oklahoma State off to a good start.
Projections- Daton Fix
141 Pounds-
Dusty Hone or Carter Young vs Real Woods. Oklahoma State is having some trouble at the moment trying to get Carter Young cleared for the match against Stanford due to him transferring from Northwestern. Maybe there could have been upset potential there but Real Woods is one of the best wrestlers on this Stanford lineup for a reason and I do not see any way he does not get the win.
Projections- Real Woods
149 Pounds-
Kaden Gfeller vs Jaden Abas. Now here we have an interesting matchup Kaden Gfeller was one of the top wrestlers on the Cowboys but has had a rough stretch going 0-2 at the national tournament in 2019 and he will look to come back in his old and better form. Jaden Abas is number 5 in the country right now and will be looking for a statement win right off the bat to prove he deserves his ranking in which should be a competitive matchup.
Projections- Jaden Abas
157 Pounds-
Wyatt Sheets vs Charlie Darracott. I do not know how much to say about this match but I do not see it being to competitive for Sheets and I think he takes care of him fairly easily.
Projection- Wyatt Sheets
165 Pounds-
Shane Griffith vs Travis Wittlake. The feature matchup of the dual meet with #7 Wittlake and #1 Griffith. We have not seen Griffith wrestle in a while but if he can bring back what he was able to do in 2021 he will have no problem taking out Wittlake.
Projections- Shane Griffith
174 Pounds-
Dustin Plott vs Tyler Eischens. Plott at number 20 right now and Eischens with an honorable mention so it will be a decently interesting match. Do not see too much of an upset potential here so I would not call anything at this point in time.
Projections- Dustin Plott
184 Pounds-
Dakota Geer vs Judah Duhm or Ethan Woods. Geer is one of the top wrestlers in the country at the moment currently coming in at #6 so he should be able to take care of business fairly handedly. Do no see to much of an eventful match coming but definitely a Geer win is expected.
Projections- Dakota Geer
197 Pounds-
AJ Ferrari vs Nick Stemmet. Another feature matchup in this dual but not for the reason you may think. A lot went down behind the scenes on social media between these two and things got ugly. Stemmet called out the national champ and said he wants “all the smoke” and you best believe Ferrari is going to bring it.
Projections- AJ Ferrari
285 Pounds-
Luke Surber or Austin Harris vs Peter Ming. The Cowboys should be looking at a win at the weight class either way. There was speculation that #9 and blood round finisher last season Austin Harris would not wrestle. See this coming down to how the dual plays out should the hold back be due to injury but expect a Luke Surber start tomorrow night.
Predictions- Luke Surber
